We all inspire to be like Icarus; taking flight and commanding the sky. To cut the strings from the land and soar through the clouds, trying to catch the sun. It didn’t work out so well for him but we still can dream of achieving such freedom. The aptly named Wings of Freedom comes to Monterey offering walk through tours of their aircrafts the B-17, B-24 and P-51. They also offer flight experiences for those who wish to take to the skies. The planes include the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress (one of nine in flying condition), Consolidated B-24 Liberator "Witchcraft" WWII Heavy Bomber and a P-51 Mustang "Betty Jane" (both the only flying models of their kind). Check the website of nonprofit organization Collings Foundation for prices. [LC]
