One on One Monologue Competition at Carl Cherry Center

Now in its fifth year, this contest has served as a platform for established and, especially, emerging playwrights to capture the fancy of the theater-going public. Here are the requirements for submission: monologues must be 5-30 minutes in length, original, unproduced, by adults 18 or older, without the aid of an instructor. Some qualitative requirements: non-traditional, high quality, character-driven, and interesting. The deadline is July 15. The rewards are having a winning work produced and performed by an actor in front of an audience during the Talk to Me one-act play weekend in Novermber amidst revered works (last year they performed Tennessee Williams, Flannery O'Connor and others)--and cash, and the vantage offered by standing atop the growing reputation this contest is building. Send submissions to Attention: Robert Reese, Carl Cherry Center for the Arts, P.O. Box 869, Carmel, CA. See website for more detail. And there are more details. [WR]
