CAA doesn't do things small. This month they present two shows of multiple artists, and then some. Joe Nordmann and Friends consists of Pacific Grove landscape oil painter Nordmann and four of his friends--Alicia Meheen, Tim Sloan, Carol Parker and Roianne Hart--all of whom meet regularly to trek across the Peninsula to paint the scenery, offering five plein air styles and persepectives of each locale. The Gallery Showcase contains works by the so-called "poet laureate of the San Joaquin Valley," Rollin Pickford, who has eight decades of painting he brings to bear to his light-infused landscapes. Peggy Jelmini presents her oils of California vineyards and rolling hillsides. The opening reception for the artists is held 6-8pm Saturday, May 8. (As an added bonus, Nordmann does a free painting demonstration 11am Saturday, May 15; and a panel discussion of "Plein Air Painters of the CAA" is set for 7pm Wednesday, May 26, with Alicia Meheen, Gerard Martin, Mark Farina, Rioanne Hart and Christine Crozier.)
