MyFriendLenny can really swing with jazzy flair. Or crank out alt-country rock. Or dip into some bluesy notes with authority. Or conjure some Jack Johnson/John Mayer vibe. Bandleader Lenny Sayles' song "Catch Me," inspired by a musical mentor of his from back in the '80s, shows they've got substance; the video was directed by Alternative Cafe's Tanem Davidson, so they're amenable to artistry, too (for more proof of that, check out Lenny's creatively carved guitar). The playing is solid, they've played the coolest intimate venues in town, and Lenny is just a good bloke. (See Music story.) [WR]
