This holiday gem is the sequel to the hit comedy by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard, Greater Tuna, and keeps the original's frenzied format in which two actors—in this case the highly capable Michael Jacobs and John Rousseau (also directing)—play 24 characters of the fictional town of Tuna, Texas. Here, it's the day before Christmas and Bertha Bumiller is trying to rescue the holiday for her messy kids and drunk husband, while a mysterious "phantom," Mr. Grinch-like, wrecks havoc on the town's decorations. The play is a knowing homage to but also a satire of small town life, which has garnered audience raves, wide performances and even an audience at George Herbert Walker Bush's White House. It runs until Dec. 23. [WR]
7:30pm Wed-Fri Dec. 1-23; 2pm Sat Dec. 11 and 18, 7:30pm Tue Dec. 21. Circle Theatre, Casanova between Eighth and Ninth , Carmel. $7-$35. 622-0100. http://www.pacrep.org/.
