Jeff Sheng has been hard at work since 2003 on his photo gallery “Fearless.” The photos depict lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender high school and college athletes who are open about their sexuality. The gallery was shown at the 2010 Winter Olympics and has toured over forty schools letting others make their own opinion on the subject. After the success of “Fearless” he received letters from military members stating their appreciation for the collection, which prompted him to follow up his work with “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”, a photo gallery of LGBT military personnel. Sheng’s work has been closely followed by media all the around the world from BBC to NPR and even graced a TIME magazine cover. He will stop by CSUMB’s World Theatre for a lecture and “Fearless” will be exhibited on campus. It’s bound to be more than just educational and eye opening. [EC]
