E. Charlton Fortune lived a long, full life. Born in 1885, she survived the San Francisco Earthquake of 1906, lived past two world wars and the Great Depression, traveled and painted across California and Europe, garnering accolades and respect, then devoted the rest of her life to liturgical works as founder of the Monterey Guild, for which she was honored by the Pope. She died in 1969, but her art lend her immortality, as does this one-act play written by Steve Hauk and staged by Conrad Selvig, which opened Fortune's liturgical exhibit at the Carmel Mission, and will be performed at P.G.'s library (7pm Oct. 2) as a fundraiser, with tea served It stars Teresa Del Piero as Fortune and John F. Brady as Bishop Edwin O'Hara.
7pm. Pacific Grove Public Library, 550 Central Ave., Pacific Grove. $15. 648-5760. http://pacificgrove.lib.ca.us/.
