From local coastal scenery to the surreal world, three exhibitions of paintings get viewers out of ordinariness. "Majestic Views" exhibits large canvas oil paintings by a couple Jeff Daniel Smith and Cyndra Bradford who interpret regional ocean and inland with a brush and palette knife. Newly arrived Reed Farrington's oil paintings bring the summer to The October Gallery Showcase. His works feature figures in the water and swimming pool, as well as semi-abstract landscapes. An opening reception for both shows will be held on Oct. 8. Dick Crispo's lecture "Things That Come Out in the Night" on Oct. 20 introduces arts and artists depicting surreal subjects. [AK]
