SoCal based Severin Browne, brother of Jackson Browne, returns to the Peninsula with his bag of easy going singer-songwriter tunes that suggest musicality runs in the family line (their father was a Dixieland musician). He was one of the first white folk/country artists on Motown, which is where he hooked up with Larry Murray, who wrote for Johnny Cash. Serverin's music is warm as an afternoon picnic, with influences from his brother to Burt Bacharach to Joni Mitchell streaming out of songs like "My Love Mo Betta" and "My Midlife Crisis," wherein Severin seems really happy with his the path of his life, bumps, friends, mortality and all. We should all be so happy go lucky as his gentle Americana music suggest. [WR]
