The authors and dignitaries who came from all corners of the country and the world to celebrate the 30th Steinbeck Festival are gone. But the art shows that added a visual dimension to the festivities are still here. The photographs of Tamra Dempsey are meant to invoke scenes from Steinbeck's stories. Randy Wells retraced Steinbeck's Travels with Charley journey in photos. And the Salinas Valley Art Association collaborate on Flowers and Travel. All three shows are free with regular admission, and are up until Oct. 22.
10am-5pm daily. National Steinbeck Center, 1 Main St., Salinas. $10.95/adult; $8.95/senior over 62, student, teacher, military with ID; $7.95/youth 13-17; $5.95/child 6-12; free/child 5 and under, member. 775-4721. http://www.steinbeck.org.
