Formed in Washington D.C. during the early '80s hardcore boom, which yielded Bad Brains and Minor Threat, The Insect Surfers play hard-edged instrumental surf guitar music that is clearly influenced by punk rock. With dueling guitars, Santa Cruz's The Luxury Sweets come on like a product of New York City's late '70s rock scene. Think the New York Dolls meets the Ramones.
