The fact that Kurt Cobain called Seattle his home insured you’d see new bands popping up every other week in the rainy northern town. It’s good to see that happening to some extent with the literary community here in Steinbeck’s former neighborhood. The Center continues their author spotlight series with Salinas local G.M. Weger as she celebrates her first novel East Garrison, winner of the 2010 Indie Excellence Book Award for Best Regional Fiction. The story centers on a pregnant woman who heads to Fort Ord to track down her estranged father in hopes of forming some sort of healthy relationship so she can go into motherhood with piece of mind. The author will be signing books purchased at the event as well as answering questions. [LC]
