So in addition to the usual carnival rides like the Century Wheel and the beloved/hated Zipper that whiz people through the air, and the games that look deceptively easy surrounded by big, fat plush toys (not to mention the carnies), and the sweet-smelling fried food, and the rustic smelling junior livestock auction, and the colorful lights and sensory overload, musical throwbacks acts like Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Beatlesmajesty and Mike Beck and the Bohemian Saints, this year's 74th annual Fair packs in more fun per acre than some fancy schmancy Disneyland. There's a food cook-off, a horticulture display, carnival rides from Michael Jackson's Neverland, a BMX Stunt Show, a rodeo (a rodeo!), art by Jo Mora (art!), a Central Coast AVA wine tasting, a talent show and...there's probably more but I'm getting tired.
