His genre defying style has been described as ferociously entertaining funked up R&B and his sound like that of Albert King channeling Steve Vai. John flourished as a lead guitarist for the house band at B.B. King's Beal Street Club in Memphis backing such artists as Pinetop Perkins, Muddy Waters' pianist, and Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown to name a couple. After growing up in the rich musical culture of Memphis and doing a decade-long stint in London where he played with such veterans as Henry Spinetti, Eric Clapton's old drummer, the Cleveland native was able to absorb and distill all his influences for what has become his signature style.
