Teen Writing Contest in Salinas

Everett Alvarez High School student Sarah Musni has taken the initiative to create a writing contest, open to just about any forum (but not too long) for teens to talk about what it's like being a teen. I like it. The submissions will be accepted until midnight Dec. 31, several students and adults will jury them, and the best will be sent to New York Times bestselling author Ellen Hopkins, who will choose the winner. The top 15 writers will be invited to work on a collaborative play and prizes will be awarded (although the whole thing is its own reward). Check out the Facebook page for details.
