Mark Mancina, known best for composing the music for Oscar-winning film Training Day, will address students and the public about his varied career, explain the process of scoring a film from inception of musical ideas to final mix. He will also discuss how music serves as a narrative, and the importance of capturing the emotional pace of a film while interpreting and translating the director's vision. Macina has worked in number of popular films in various genres including, Speed (1994), Twister (1996), and August Rush (2007). He added Broadway to his list of accomplishments when he co-wrote, produced, and arranged the score of the musical production of The Lion King.
