No joke! Well established local comic illustrators bring their artwork to Oldtown Salinas for First Friday. Bridgett Spicer, creator of "Squid Row," presents acrylic and watercolor artwork from her daily comic, giving it a painterly feel. Ace Continuado is a freelance, superhero-inspired artist, whose elaborate drawings feature amazing backgrounds with intricate attention to detail. Whimsical Salinas-based artist Gabriel Cortes, who is the talent and creative force behind "Vatoman & Ruben," rounds out the list of comic artists. Dropping beats on the ones and twos, DJs Nova, Mincey Fresh and Kiyoshi 1 supply the auditory stimulation for the evening. This unique opportunity to intermingle with local artists may include an impromptu Q&A, and rumor has it that Judy's famous everything cookies of Spicer's "The Cartoonery" fame will be provided.
