For this California-born folk singer, playing the guitar came at the tender age of 11. Over a decade later, Amanda West has played stages along West coast from Genghis Cohen in Los Angeles to Yoshi's in San Francisco. Plus, she's scored festival cred performing at the Santa Cruz Arts Festival, the San Francisco Free Folk Festival and the Downtown Berkeley Music Festival. With a passion for women's struggles in combination with music, West co-produced and performed in August 2009's Womansong, an event featuring women songwriters benefiting the Monterey County Rape Crisis Center. Also, influenced by earth's well being and the future of humanity, West is currently compiling environmental songs for social change. This up-and-comer is one to watch out for.
