Local guitar virtuoso and co-founder of Persephone’s Bees, Tom Ayres (with backup band, Le Strange), will pay homage to the early days of one of the world’s greatest songwriters. The year was 1966 and Bob Dylan was in the midst of a world tour that became known as the first tour the folk musician used electric instruments—he famously went electric earlier in 1965 at the Newport Folk Festival. His backing band, The Hawks, would later go on to become The Band. Ayres will delve into the tunes—from “Ballad of a Thin Man” to “Like a Rolling Stone”—that made up Dylan’s set lists from the landmark tour that would be his last until 1968. Singer/songwriter Tom Faia opens. [AJ]
6pm. Planet Gemini, 2110 N. Fremont St., Monterey. $12. 373-1449.
