Lil' Pea and the Third Degree at Sly McFly's

In their debut Monterey performance, Lil’ Pea and the Third Degree bring their blues, drenched with soul and reggae, to Sly McFly’s. Having played shows from Soquel to Half-Moon Bay, they are no strangers to the Central Coast. Singer and guitarist Diana Rogers, or Lil’ Pea, credits locales near the water for providing fun, upbeat crowds with good energy. Other band members previously played with BR Jazz Band, Coco Montoya and Big City Revue. The newest addition to the evolving, six-year-old band is Bill Ireton, a singer and lead guitarist who has played with the talents of E.C. Scott. He brings his combined blues and rock experience to the stage, adding to the Third Degree’s repertoire. Billy Rogers also sings and plays bass, Randy Hayes provides beats on the drums and Noel Catura wails on saxophones. They cover hits by The Temptations, Bob Marley and The Rolling Stones. Performances are passionate and spontaneous, as locals have unexpectedly hopped on stage with their instruments, including a trumpet player on one occasion and three guitarists on another. [JL]
