A pioneer folk singer, Mary McClasin has been stumming a guitar since the 1960's. And not only a guitar, the girl can play a mean clawhammer banjo, as well. In her past she has played at venues across the country, but now resides in Santa Cruz and can be seen in the local venues around the county. Playing both original songs and covered classics like "Black Bird" and "Pinball Wizard". Her last recording was in 1980, and now she is here to promote her new album, "Better Late Than Ever". McClasin bridges the gap between old and new folk, releasing her first album "Goodnight Everybody" in 1969, her voice now is as strong as it was in her young years. [JW]
