The Center shows a film in Spanish and English (with subtitles) about Oscar Romero, who famously advocated religion’s role in liberating the poor from harsh conditions, criticized the U.S.’s support of ‘contra’ groups against leftist guerrillas, and was assassinated during Mass. After this thought-provoking film is a more bright Salvadorean Party, to celebrate the Aug. 6 National Day of El Salvador with food, music, and dancing. Children are welcome.
