"Freaks and Femmes" at the Henry Miller Library

Burla, the Latin root for joke, ridicule, or mockery is only one way to describe the empowering art form of burlesque. Once the sun goes down, music and mayhem combine, with performers like Italy's Scarlett Martini and Germany's Hedo Luxe enacting the true essence of the burlesque meaning. Before the show from 5-6pm is a burlesque workshop for men and woman hosted by the performers, with a chance to meet and greet them at a cocktail hour from 6:30-7:30pm.
7:30pm, doors open; 8:30pm show. Henry Miller Library, a quarter mile south of Nepenthe Restaurant on Highway 1, Big Sur. Free; donations appreciated. 667-2574.
