For this month's First Friday, the Steinbeck Center is bringing in local author James B. Golden for the launch of his second book, Afro Clouds and Nappy Rain. Golden, who views the Steinbeck center as an "integral part of Salinas and his development as a writer" models the main character of his novel after the troubled young men he has worked with in the judicial system. The center will also be showcasing the photography of Al Weber and other local artists who shot 52 choice pieces depicting the Mission San Antonio de Padua including a 10-minute documentary on the project. Enjoy the company of the artists along with wine from Ventana Vineyards. [TOL]
