Relatively Speaking at Carl Cherry Center

There's something tactile and expansive about collage. It can be really specific and representational, or obscure and mysterious, and it's often ironic. Early DIY punk posters and albums used it to striking and political effect: I'm thinking the Sex Pistols' Nevermind the Bollocks album cover of Queen Elizabeth, which got them into the trouble they were looking for. This show cleverly plays on the date of its opening reception, taking place Friday 11-11-11, with 11 artists showing the diversity and range that the medium commands. [WR]
