Green Seas, Blue Seas at Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History

The museum puts on an art show that's right in line with their stewardship of nature and its wild creatures by giving over a big chunk of their interior space to artist Ray Troll, a 2011 Guggenheim Fellow. The 40 original images—sea turtles, dolphins, tuna, whale sharks and other marine animals, done in a serene but lively color schemes of green, which represents the ocean's warm cycle, and blues, which represents its cold cycles, and beautifully designed in a graphics style—were commissioned for P.G.'s NOAA building and meets a general public here, starting with an opening reception Saturday at Chautauqua Hall (165 Forest Ave., P.G.), at which Troll will lecture, Jason Bond and the Committee will play, and various businesses ply on appetizers. As accompaniment, there will be a series of lectures on science and ocean conservation throughout the life of the art exhibit, which runs to Jan. 12, 2012. [WR]
