It arrives in the midst of nervous murmurs of the Economy and Future and Attendance by the Monterey County theater community, small, streamlined and charging into a season studded with gritty, twisty, funny stuff. Co-owners Kirstin Clapp and her mother Judie Swartz welcome you to the county's newest theater (small) space, a little set back from the sidewalk next to Denny's, but big on ideas, and so named for the two women's affection for Old Hollywood and Old Broadway. Their first production out the gate is David Lindsay-Abaire's 2007 Pulitzer Prize-winning Rabbit Hole, a wrenching but cathartic examination of grief and loss barreling through a suburban family. In-between productions, they plan to house art and live music. Stay tuned. [WR]
