Monterey to Big Sur at Lighthouse Cinemas

"Monterey to Big Sur" is a hour-long film shot by filmmaker John Harris, which showed at the Carmel Art and Film Festival this October. Due to demand, "Monterey to Big Sur" is being brought to Pacific Grove's Lighthouse Cinemas for two shows. Over a three-year period Harris shot the Central Coast in a way that makes people understand why millions of tourists flock to this area every year. From big wave surfing to crazed birds feeding on bait fish to the delicate Monarch butterflies of Pacific Grove, Harris creates a poetic account of the area's universal appeal using film as his medium. The Monterey String Trio adds melodic harmonies to the evening with a performance of original scores for the film during both showings. [GS]
