Hot jazz on the cool Monterey waterfront is back, the annual event not
losing one bit of steam in the 31 years since its inception. Founded in 1980,
Dixieland Monterey celebrates the roots of classic jazz, swing and ragtime
with a dash of zydeco and blues added to the mix. As the momentum of
this great event has grown, so has the caliber of its musicians. As always,
this years lineup features some of the world's most talented, including guest
artists Bob Draga and Dawn Lambeth. The Swing Dance Party, Banjo
Jubilee and Dance Marathon provide an extra dose of fun. Founder John
Keller attributes the festival's success to the long-standing dedication of its
all-volunteer board of directors, the beauty of the Monterey waterfront and
the fact that it gives people what they want -- great music. [DVD]
