Monterey Peninsula College is ups the ante in the county's literary scene with its Great Books and Great Authors series that combine into a colloquium of literature and ideas. This installment, following last week's visit by the rescheduled appearance of Mark Edmundson, features Peter Chilson, author of novella Disturbance—Loving Species, a cultural milieu of Africa and America that the L.A. Times calls "a smart and elegantly executed collection of stories" that "speak directly to...urgent and baffling contemporary problems."
