David Grier, not to be confused with the guy from In Living Color, was first moved to pick up the guitar after hearing the music of bluegrass legend, Bill Monroe. He never looked back after that: He was recently voted by the members of the International Bluegrass Music Association as Best Guitar Player of the Year and has also appeared on two Grammy- winning recordings: True Life Blues: A Tribute to Bill Monroe and The Great Dobro Sessions. The Nashville-based musician's fingerpicking evokes a perfect blend of the bygone era of Monroe with a contemporary bluegrass styling. Carmel Valley's own, guitarist Bill Ingram, opens. [AJ]
