Edward Weston: American Photographer at Monterey Museum of Art-La Mirada

The exhibit compiles a lifetime of Edward Weston’s photographs from major museums and private collections, including more than one hundred prints. His starkly contrasted black-and-white photos range from still lifes of vegetables and seashells to portraits, nudes and landscapes. After moving from Illinois to California, he moved to Carmel in 1929. There he began shooting the iconic trees and rocks of the rugged coastline, and soon became a founding member of Group f/64, a collective of pioneering photographers including Ansel Adams and Imogen Cunningham. The exhibit stays up through the rest of the year. [JL]
