Half of the perennial folk duo Pryor and Marcum pays homage to the songwriter
credited with defining the folk-pop sound of the hippy years at The Works
tonight. Gordon Lightfoot, a Canadian musician whose songs Bob Dylan said he
wished “would last forever,” brought folk out of the backwoods and onto the world’s biggest stages. Some consider him Canada’s greatest songwriter (take that Alanis). Elvis, Cash and Streisand are but a few of the artists who’ve recorded a Lightfoot song in their careers, and Marcum’s set will land him on that list of heavyweights. [MF]
