Don Carlo at Monterey and Salinas Cinemas

It took Verdi three and a half hours to tell the story of "Don Carlo" and how he came to turn on his own father and king, Philip II of Spain. But that's what happens when you kill your son's best friend and marry the woman he loves. Giving away the plot line won't ruin this story, though. "Don Carlo" has been performed more than any other Verdi opera, and the MET has picked it to close their HD Summer Encore season for the year. [NH]
