With the help of children author Beverly Clearly and grant from the Department of Agriculture, Monterey County Free Libraries is proud to launch its 32-foot bookmobile. Housing three internet-surfing computers and 3,000 library books, DVDs and talking books for the public, the bookmobile plans to serve all of rural south Monterey County. The party starts with entertainment and refreshments at 10am at the Marina Branch Library at 190 Seaside Circle, and weaves through to Spreckles at 11:45am at their Memorial Park on Hatton Avenue. Next up are the branch libraries in Gonzales, Soledad, and Greenfield: stopping at 851 Branch Street at 12:35pm in Gonzales, then to 401 Gabilan Drive at 1;20pm in Soledad, and to 315 El Camino Real at 2:05pm in Greenfield. The road-trippin' ends with a bang at 3pm, with more entertainment and refreshments at King City's Branch Library on 402 Broadway, with ribbon-cutting by Supervisor Simon Salinas.
