Author Stephen Palumbi talks about the book he co-authored with Carolyn Sotka and the story behind the story. Published last November, "The Death and Life of Monterey Bay" is an in-depth look at the turbulent history behind what is now a serene and beautiful National Marine Sanctuary. Palumbi explains how the canning industry impacted the Bay's environment; the otters made their eventual recovery; and why the mayor of Pacific Grove once torn down the fence at Lover's Point beach.
