Drag City singer-songwriter Bill Callahan, has recorded 14 albums over the years but his latest, Apocalypse, may be his best yet. The seven-song LP is quiet but poignant. Similar to peers like Will Oldham, Callahan has been masterfully and calculatingly giving the non-traditionalist folk movement new breath throughout the years. The 70-year-old opener Michael Chapman, has churned out more than 30 albums since the 1960s. The British-born musician is known for mixing elements of jazz into his folk. [AJ]
