Opened in mid-April, the John Steinbeck, Cesar Chavez and El Gabilan brances of the Salinas Public Libraries carry a collection of more than 1,000 toys for babies to five-year-olds that may be checked out—two per child—for three weeks, and extended another three weeks. They include puzzles, games, manipulatives and toys that help with physical and mental growth, and can be searched through the libaries' online catalog.
