The Chamber Music Monterey Bay's fourth concert of the 2010-11 season alights on the "charismatic and extroverted" but accessible Amelia Piano Trio, who were mentored by and introduced to Carnegie Hall by Isaac Stern, and who've since won over stages at the Calgary Pro Musica and audiences on NPR. They perform the subtle and complex reverie of Ravel's "Piano Trio in A minor," Debussy's "Piano Trio in G Major" and Mozart's "Violin & Piano Sonata, k. 57." Then they're joined by Guowei, a master of the two-stringed Chinese violin known as the erhu, on performances of Hua Wanjun's Song of Hunan and Yang Yong's River Song. Ask about the Kids Up Front & Free program for students in grades 4-12 to harvest new audiences and musicians for these accomplished performances of classic music. [WR]
8pm. Sunset Center, San Carlos between Eighth and Ninth, Carmel. $31-$55. 625-2212, www.chambermusicmontereybay.org.
