Bennewitz String Quartet at All Saints’ Episcopal Church

Have you ever heard a concert and you could just tell the performers
didn’t understand what they were playing? The insincerity can be blaring,
especially with a piece of emotionally charged music that, in the wrong
hands, comes out flat and just plain bad. You won’t have that problem
with the Prague-based Bennewitz String Quartet. They meticulously
break down each composition, striving to understand all its nuances and
characteristics before communicating them to the audience. They’ll be
playing a hefty set tonight, including a piece by Mozart. A reception will
follow the concert. [MF]
8pm. All Saints' Episcopal Church, SE corner of Ninth and Lincoln, Carmel. $10-$27. 625-9938, www.carmelmusic.org.
