Appropriately, Patrick Shen's Philosopher Kings (7pm Thursday at the University Center Ballrooom), documents the stories and opinions of janitorial workers from some of the most prestigious universities in the country. Before the showing, there will be a Interactive World Café discussion with local workers about the protection of the rights of public employees. Anne Braden: Southern Patriot, about a Southern social justice activist, will be screened (11:30am Friday) at the Center for Reading Diagnosis near Seventh Street. Kenneth Bowser's Phil Ochs: There But for Fortune (8pm Monday at the CSUMB Library Room 1188), is an in-depth portrait of Vietnam-era, singer-songwriter whose lyrics cut just as sharp as they did more than 40 years ago: "There’s no place in this world where I’ll belong, when I’m gone..." The film will show after a 7pm reception. [AJ]
