Silver-bearded troubadour, Leon Russell, is probably the best-known session musician in rock and roll history. The 69-year-old musician spent decades sitting in with everyone from The Beach Boys and The Byrds to Jerry Lee Lewis and George Harrison. But in the 1970s, Russell began making a name for himself as a solo act, thanks to longtime advocate, collaborator and friend, Elton John. His mash-up of blues, gospel and country recently earned him a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. [AJ]
