Peter Shaffer's 1990 play, which Sunday Express called "one of the sharpest, wittiest, most passionate and elegant plays of the year," won two Tony awards. So there is corroboration that it is good stuff. Lettice Duffet (what a name) is an eccentric history tour guide at Fustian House in England who, more and more, embellishes its mundane story, to the consternation of her rule-book-rigid supervisor Lotte Schoen (what a name). But instead of interceding, Lotte investigates her freethinking employee, even visiting her at home. There, sparks ensue. Directed by Jack Stauffer and acted by Maryann Rousseau, Suzanne Sturn, Kalyn Shubnell, Philip Pearce, Brandon Burns and Hugh Leddy, it runs through June 12. [WR]
