It's really fitting that the inaugural launch of Paper Wing's second smaller theater space, Gallerie Theatre, begins with a production of Bug by actor and playwright Tracy Letts, who won the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for his dark comedy August: Osage County. Bug is a dark, angry play about lonely cocktail waitress Agnes, hiding in a remote motel room from her violent ex-con ex-husband Jerry, who is introduced to disturbed Gulf War veteran Peter by her lesbian biker friend R.C. It is intense stuff, for mature audiences only, they warn. A couple of years back Paper Wing staged Letts' similarly dysfunctional Killer Joe, so it makes sense that they would let this Bug in. Just wait til you check out the set-up for this miniature theater—it is compact. The production is directed by Kirsten Clapp and acted by Todd Stone, Deena Lynn, Victor DiBartolomeo, Ashley Gordon and Brian Andrews and crawls through May 21. [WR]
