Named for the 19th-century German poet Christian Morgenstern, this hot new trio has emerged on the German music scene as a prestigious, prize-winning ensemble. They'll draw from the baroque, the romantic and the political in this program featuring works by audience favorites Mozart and Beethoven, and also Czech composer Bedrich Smetana who was composing nationalistic tunes during the 1848 Prague uprising. Well acquainted with accolades from international music festivals, this virtuoso group would probably draw praise today from their namesake for the ability to respect the establishment while also bucking norms.
