First performed in Prague in 1787, this opera written by Mozart gets a modern rendition from the Met in New York. Not only does this sexy, yet serious opera feature some great opera performers like Mariusz Kwiecien and Marina Rebeka clearing their pipes, but the stage performance gets beamed in high definition to theaters all over the country. Both the Northridge and Del Monte Center theaters showcase this four hour long play, which is in two acts, so yes there is an intermission. Alongside being one of the most performed opera in the world, Don Giovanni's character speaks to audiences because of his flawed and human nature, making him a quintessential anti-hero. Now who doesn't like an anti-hero in our day and age? [GS]
