Okay, so SOMOS Media and Gallery has moved to a new, bigger, more visible location on South Main, and they're dovetailing on the big but struggling Oldtown First Friday Artwalk, but this show is being promoted a little on the down low. Why? Well, it's comprised of stuff from the exciting and sometimes legally dubious world of graffiti. Most of the 10 artists the gallery is trying to corral for the show are veterans who don't "write" anymore, some want to remain anonymously shadowy, but some are intrigued too by the attention and art credibility that a gallery show throws on their spray can works. Los Angeles' Museum of Contemporary Art show Art from the Streets, a full-blown graffiti heaven, was the biggest attended in their history. This stuff moves the masses. Come see why, and talk it out with other lovers of this hip-hop element. Speaking of which, this visual energy will be matched by fierce conciousness raps by local and regional MCs including Rey Ressureccion (watch out for this cat), Oneself Davinci, Keno, C-Los & K, and OEM.
