Take the car to Valley Center Park Row and go for a drive with other cinephiles on a tour through Salinas Valley and Monterey Peninsula with surprise detours along the way ending in a stop at the Fox Theatre. There, motorheads can view some classic drag racing films, ogle drag racing memorabilia and snack on hors d'oeuvres with all ticket sales going to charity. Old 8mm prints from the 50s, 60s and 70s are screening followed by Seven Second Love Affair, Les Blank's 1965 portrait of Rick "The Iceman" Stewart as he tries to break the second half of the world's quarter mile speed record.
9am meet up Valley Center; 10am departure from Valley Center; 4pm arrival Fox Theatre; 4-10pm film screenings. Begins at Valley Center, 986 Park Row, Salinas and ends at Fox Theatre, 241 Main St. Salinas. $15. 901-7418.
