41st Community Thanksgiving at Monterey County Fairgrounds

We're talking 125 turkeys, 600 pounds of potatoes and 2,500 meals. But here the hams and big birds, stuffing and sauces, pies and sides are but the beginning of the community outpouring for the less fortunate. Led by the Kiwanis, a whole Peninsula rallies to provide not just food but kitchen hustle and bustle and the sort of generous spirit that defines the holiday and the four-decade-plus tradition. Call to contribute food and/or time; they take donations right up till supper. [MCA]
