Sunsets and Margaritas at The Western Stage

There's plenty of loco to go around in Sunsets and Margaritas, a play that opens with an increasingly senile grandfather crashing his car through the wall of the family cantina. Gregario Serrano, son of the deranged driver, is at the heart of Jose Cruz Gonzalez' new work, which tackles serious subject matter—intergenerational conflicts, racial stereotypes, religious salvation—with wacky comic flair. When the Virgin of Guadalupe makes a cameo as a stand-up comedian, you know you're in for a wild ride.

8pm Fri-Sat, 2pm Sun. Sept. 16-Oct.9. The Western Stage at Hartnell College, 411 Central Ave., Salinas. $30/adult, $21/junior, senior or military. 755-6816, westernstage.com
